Warm Greetings Kinship Supporters, Families, Mentors and Friends!
It’s been a whirlwind of a year at the Kinship office, as things are in full swing after all the Covid related delays and cancellations of 2020 and 2021. We are so happy to be back and I am so happy to be a part of this incredible organization. My name is Sarah Fox and 2022 marks my first full year as a board member for Kinship of Cumberland and Turtle Lake. Through my board position I have been able to see first hand the essential need for Kinship’s youth mentoring programming in our community and the monumental difference mentors can make in the lives of the kids we serve. This year KinsKids and Mentors were able to participate in many amazing activities coordinated by our office like taking in a Minnesota Twins Game, participating in a planting event at Growing Wishes Greenhouse, going to the movies in Rice Lake, pumpkin patch and more. These fun events provide opportunities that might not otherwise be available to our Kinskids and an easy way for our mentors to enjoy quality time with their KinsKid. Providing these opportunities and supporting the Kinskid/Mentor relationships has a far-reaching positive impact for kids and families in our community, however it doesn’t come without cost.
We estimate the cost of supporting a single KinsKid/Mentor relationship costs over $1200 per year on top of administrative costs and volunteer hours from our board members. While our Kinship office and board of directors worked to replenish the coffers and renew our community connection at this year’s Kinship and Comedy night fundraiser- it’s the annual donations, memorials, and generosity from people like you that help us to continue our mission. As you plan your giving this year, we hope you will keep Kinship of Cumberland and Turtle Lake in mind. Please consider volunteering your time as a board member, mentor, or make plans to donate the funds to help us continue the important work of providing critical youth mentoring services in our community.
